Project C3: A Charlie Company Christmas

November 30, 2019 @ 12:00 pm 4:00 pm

For those that may be unaware, Charlie Company, 1/178th INF out of Kankakee, IL is currently deployed in Gardez, Afghanistan.

I would like to send each of these boys a care package. I have been in contact with their Platoon Sergeant to get a list of things that they need. That list can be found below. Boxes will also be set up at various businesses and locations throughout Kankakee County. Once boxes have been set up, I will have it updated on this page. We will determine the date and time to put the care packages together (the date listed here is just a proposed date as of now), at which time I encourage people to bring homemade Christmas cookies, Christmas decorations, personally written Christmas Cards, and anything else that can make our boys feel a little more at home.

Most of these gentlemen are from Kankakee County. In addition to being our brothers, sons, fathers, husbands, and friends, many of them are also police officers, teachers, and firefighters. They are your neighbors.

These guys have to spend Christmas thousands of miles away from their homes, which isn’t the best feeling. As soldiers, they are doing their jobs. As a community, it’s time to do ours.

  1. I had worked with operation MOMs for years until they had to close due to health of the founders. We did over 5,000 Illinois military. We now help Adopt a Soldier out of Peotone. We live in Manteo and would love to help our own town. We have made quilts , filled boxes with more than I can list, even cards and things made by students. Please let me know if there is someplace we could fit in and donate things.
